Roman PAUSANIAS

Roman began studying the violin at the age of 6 at the Fontainebleau Conservatory in the class of Marie-Isabelle Bondu. At 14, he was awarded his C.E.M. (Certificate of Musical Studies ) in violin with highest honors from the jury.

That same year, he joined the class of Cyril Ghestem at the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt, where he also received chamber music instruction from Bertrand Raynaud and Jérôme Voisin.
He is currently continuing his studies at the Haute École de Musique de Genève in the class of Amaury Coeytaux.

Through masterclasses, he has benefited from the guidance of Olivier Charlier, Guillaume Sutre, and Corina Belcea.

In 2023, at the age of 16, he joined the Orchestre Français des Jeunes under the direction of Michael Schønwandt, Julien Chauvin, and Kristiina Poska. Over three years as a member of the first violin section, he developed strong orchestral experience and explored a wide and demanding repertoire.
He has performed in prestigious venues across Europe, including the Philharmonie de Paris, the Konzerthaus Berlin (as part of the Young Euro Classic festival), the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as at the Berlioz Festival and the Santander International Festival.

In 2025, he served as concertmaster of the CRR de Boulogne-Billancourt Symphony Orchestra for performances of Danse Macabre and Saint-Saëns’ Symphonie Triomphale, in concerts held at the Grand Amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne and La Seine Musicale in Paris.

Roman plays a violin made by Christian Bayon with a bow by Stéphane Thomachot.

Review : concertclassique.com - Alain Cochard
As for the CRR de Boulogne Orchestra and Jean-Luc Tourret, they delivered a performance of Berlioz’s Roman Carnival Overture, remarkable for its brilliance and lyricism, and equally successful, Saint-Saëns’ Danse macabre, in which the bowing of Roman Pausanias, of great refinement, stood out. A violinist you will certainly hear about again…
